UK Pilot, MK: Preparations underway to roll out a community project on loneliness and community resilience

Howdy from the UK. We are excited to share our plans for the pilot in Milton Keynes, England, involving the local Woughton Community Council (WCC) and the SME Spirocco, winner of the 1st GATEKEPEER open call. This first pilot focuses on loneliness, wellbeing and caretaking. The Open University and WCC are collaborating with Spirocco in the co-design of a mobile phone App, which will enable residents to create and respond to requests around daily living. Users may ask for help with day-to-day activities, such as shopping and gardening.

This new digital solution will complement the offer of community services and volunteer work of WCC, widening participation and enabling a better understanding of community needs and risks. We’re pleased to announce that the pilot use of the app will start in June with a kick-off with a first batch of users on the 14th. If you want to know more, please get in touch with Dr Alessio Antonini of the Open University and, if you live in Milton Keynes and wish to join, with Steve McNay of WCC (contacts are on our websites).
