GATEKEEPER closing event – The AI effect:
Igniting today's healthcare transformation.

Thank you for participating in the GATEKEEPER Project Closing Event!

We are very grateful to everyone who participated in the final event of the GATEKEEPER Project. Whether you joined us in person at the Gran Teatro La Estación CAIXABANK in Madrid or online, your presence made the event a great success. Big thanks to more than 300 people!

The final event was an important milestone in our project, marking nearly four years of dedication to using AI and Big Data to transform healthcare. It was not only about celebrating our achievements but also about looking to the future and seeing how we can continue to influence healthcare in Europe and beyond.

For those who were not able to attend the gala, don’t worry! You can enjoy each session in the following clips:

1. Welcoming session

It was an honour to have Mr. Miguel López Valverde Argueso, the Regional Minister for Digital in the Madrid region, to inaugurate the event. He delivered a compelling message, acknowledging the necessity of implementing innovative healthcare solutions to enhance patient care and efficiency.

Mr. Valverde highlighted initiatives like GATEKEEPER, emphasizing their alignment with the goal of achieving tangible results.

2. The GATEKEKEPER value reshaping chronic disease care and wellbeing

During this session, the project coordination team presented the principal advances in the three major areas: pilots, technology, and sustainability of the solutions tested.

3. Revolutionizing healthcare through AI driven innovations from concept to impact

This session was led by the GK exploitation leader from SAMSUNG, explaining the involvement of AI technologies throughout the project. He had the opportunity to share the stage with a Medtronic Global Representative, a renowned neurologist who has founded an AI-based service for better diagnosis and follow-up of neurological pathologies. Finally, the participation from a recognized expert of the EC commission in data privacy concluded enriching this powerful session.

4. European Health Data Spaces unleashing the full potential of health data

In the more technical session, the project’s platform manager provided an overview of the principal technological innovations achieved among GATEKEEPER. He led an interesting discussion around interoperability and the importance of privacy and security in the use of health data with members of institutions such as Hewlett Packard Enterprise and HL7.

5. Healthcare regional strategies for implementing pioneering innovative solutions

This session was dedicated to demonstrating the impact of the pilots with representatives from the Basque Country, Aragon, and Puglia. Subsequently, Medtronic’s strategy director led a debate in which members of the public administration of the regions mentioned discussed about the current strategies for implementing digital solutions in their communities.

6. Open Innovation for creating sustainable digital healthcare ecosystems

The final session was filled with key representatives from the industry (Medtronic and AstraZeneca), two representatives from the Health Public Administration (from Madrid and Cataluña regions), and the founder of a startup accelerator. In this way, we managed to capture the perspectives of key stakeholders shaping the healthcare system, obtaining their opinions on how we should work together to achieve the real implementation of digital solutions that improve health outcomes and the efficiency of healthcare systems.

The final event was an important milestone in our project, marking nearly four years of dedication to using AI and Big Data to transform healthcare. It was not only about celebrating our achievements but also about looking to the future and seeing how we can continue to influence healthcare in Europe and beyond.
